a place for sharing all things photographic and some things not

Coal, a photo journey

If you’re interested in a one stop shop for up-to-date, excellent photojournalism, The Big Picture, edited as a subsection of The Boston Globe, is one of the best places to get images online (free!). The editing is fantastic and often compiles significant images from all over the world (it’s incredible some of the things that they come up with)

Coal was a compilation that caught my eye due to it’s length (most collections there have ~30 images max) and also the quality of the selection. The essay feels very complete and also shows how far more our world has to go in pursuit of clean energy – coal still remains a key part to meeting our energy demands. You can literally travel across the world through the images alone.

there’s such an amazing quality to this image it almost feels right out of a movie.

If you’re interested in checking out the rest of the collection or the other topics that are covered (and updated rather regularly) do head over to the links above!
